Evangelism the Servant Way
Acts of Kindness
Acts of Kindness is a community outreach ministry of Emmanuel Church. We perform "acts of kindness" to those in our community who may need a kind word or a kind smile. We expect nothing in return. We show the love of Christ by those kindnesses.
Our motto is: This act of kindness is done to express God's love to you in a practical and caring way. "Jesus went about doing good." --Acts 10:38
A couple of the ways in which we do this is by doing community car washes (free of charge!), our annual Christmas present wrapping at the Lilac Mall (free of charge!) and by sometimes visiting door-to-door and offering tracts, prayer and sometimes food or toiletries. We always have fun!

Food Pantry/Homeless Shelter
Homeless Center of Strafford County
Eleanor Towle's burden for the homeless has led her to a home mission project. She writes:
Many Rochester families are struggling to survive. We as a church are taking the Rochester Homeless Shelter on as our home mission project. The shelter is already full with a total of 24 people, many of whom are children. This year the shelter has filled up much sooner than previous years.
We will have a box beside the greeters as you come into church, and hope you can supply many of their needs such as paper towels, laundry detergent, dish detergent, soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes, shampoo, tissues, and other personal items. Also, gas cards, gift cards from supermarkets, Wal-Mart, or K-Mart are also helpful. (Gift cards can be given to Jeannette Landry). This box will remain as long as the shelter is open.
It is our desire that you show these people that God loves them and really cares.
